I have had several brides that had a small legal ceremony previously, but are finally getting their big celebration day! It's turned into a day of pure joy instead of being full of nerves!

A beautiful ceremony, focused on family...

We ventured back to where this all began for Samantha and Kevin. (What a priceless reminder, and great idea for future Brides and Grooms!)

The blushing Bride requested a field location and I knew just the spot, one of my favorites. The colors came through vibrantly with those overcast skies!

A HOT July day, over 95 degrees with lots of sunshine for an amazing outdoor ceremony.

The sky was perfect on their special day...

Even with the scorching heat we were able to capture some gorgeous formal shots in only 15 minutes...

Personal details were everywhere... Sarah even brought in blue lighting to add the "WOW" factor to their reception. In all the times I have shot there, this was the first time I'd seen anything like it!

Quite the modern trend these days are some delectable cupcakes at your reception, and these were delicious.

A memorable evening followed with some great group shots, tons of dancing and second dress for Sarah!

Another near miss with the rain, Rachel & Jeff's day was PERFECT. A bit of sunshine led to some amazing photo ops, with the perfect amount of cloud cover for the formal photos.

(Did you know photographers prefer to work when it's cloudy vs. sun? The light is softer so there isn't as much squinting :-)

The entire event was held at Woodcliff and it was spectacular! Rachel had a 2-floor suite to enjoy preparing for the "BIG DAY!" Her small wedding party of two made it relaxing and enjoyable...

An outdoor ceremony on the back lawn, formals in the garden, cocktail hour around the pool, and an elegant reception inside.

What a great idea for guests.... a LEMONADE STAND to enjoy while waiting for the ceremony to begin. The bride's cousin was in charge and it was a huge hit!

I work hard to fit photography into your schedule, not the other way around. Rachel & Jeff wanted to accomplish all of the formals in 45 minutes- family, bridal party, and bride & groom images. With a very cooperative family, and small bridal party, this was easily accomplished!

Just a few of the gorgeous bride & groom photos we were able to capture in 10-15 minutes! Then they got to enjoy cocktail hour for a bit with their guests before dinner.

Who doesn't love a few personal touches on a priceless day?

Every year you can count on the girls being even more excited about having their portraits done than the guys, and this year was no exception. All of the girls that I worked with this season chose to do a studio AND an outdoor session (Which landed them a discount on BOTH!).

With the season winding down, I am sad to see it go. Let's take a peek at few favorite shots with AMAZING locations, props, and outfits we had during two of our sessions...

Each year I donate gift certificates to a few select charities for their silent auctions and I meet the most wonderful families through those programs! This season I've had the privilege of photographing Natalie's family using one of those certificates, and also her Senior portraits!

We had the perfect summer evening in Highland Park...

Story's little sister was born earlier this year and I've been honored to photograph the family through the whole process. It was fun to see Story let her own personality shine during her Senior session!!!

The rain cleared up and the sun came out just in time for us to rock it out at Charlotte Beach!

Senior guys are taking the lead this season! Their sessions were either short & simple or a full day of activities, whatever suited their style! These are a few favorites from some East-siders!

Ian from Penfield went with a simple yet classic 30 minute studio session...

Sam from Pittsford had an hour long studio session full of outfit changes!

Zach from Penfield had the best of both worlds. Nearly a full two hours of shooting with studio time, Lakeshore golf course and then Corbett's Glen!!!

Whether you choose to keep it light with a brief in studio session, or fill a couple hour session to the brim with activities, we can accommodate your needs. Yearbook deadlines are coming up quick but there is still time for a last minute session so if you need one just get in touch soon!

This past year was full of fabulous family portraits! Although Fall is usually the most popular time to have them done, an awesome family session can happen anytime of year, for a variety of reasons.

Thanks to the Brides' Father, we were able to capture a couple unique shots with his cool car.

Then we decided to head down to the horse pastures. Shooting with long lenses allowed for some private moments between just the two of them, like they didn't know I was there...

The rich green pasture brought out the vibrant yellow in the Brides' bouquet.

With all of the rainy weather this Bride even came prepared with rain boots! This amazing shot is being entered into the NY State Fair Photo competition!!!

What gorgeous hardwood floors at this reception venue, with elegant tall white ceilings. Everyone had a great time...

With a room filled with great food, fun and laughter, who would've thought I'd see the best dance move EVER... What a doll!

{ Newborn Baby Art - baby boys } rochester, NY newborn photographer

Along with this Springs' beautiful newborn baby girls came adorable baby boys...

This 2 week old little fellow arrived awake and ready! He didn't at all mind the camera, and stayed alert which resulted in some great shots!

Moms & dads: if you want to be in a few shots with baby, I recommend wearing black/dark color clothing as seen here. It converts to black & white beautifully!

He was a great little model with his arms and hands placed just so, like he knew what he was doing!

And finally, just when we thought he wasn't going to fall asleep.... perfection!

Having arrived a few weeks premature, this 3 week old little guy was still tiny!

One of my favorite newborn set-ups ever, love that earthy fringe.

I am so excited to be using this handmade cradle in my newborn sessions. My dad made it for me when I was a little girl, to use with my Cabbage Patch Dolls :-)

What is better than a newborn you might ask? Well how about some great modern photos of a newborn? More specifically, newborn ART. This Spring and Summer is proving to be full of beautiful babies!

This adorable bundle is the youngest client that has ever been photographed in the studio.

It's nice to know that we don't have to interrupt a nap schedule to squeeze in an unforgettable shot...

You can never have too many prop options for a great photo shoot and Mom was sure to pick just the right ones. This is definitely the cutest bunny I've ever seen!

Another little princess about 2 weeks old came in for her session bright eyed and ready to go!

Big Sister came along, and since she is a return client she was ready to show little Sister how it is done. It is so nice to have families bringing in their new additions!

After a while of studying the studio, the little sweet pea gave in for a couple of priceless sleepy shots...

What difference does the right accessory make? Look at the bright green in contrast to her porcelain newborn skin. What a beautiful baby girl.

{Kids + Color Project / rochester, ny child photographer}

During this past dreary winter, I took some time to focus on a special project called "KIDS + COLOR." It was a fantastic way to bring out both vibrant clothes and personalities against a plain white canvas, while using minimal props.

This playful first time client was super fun. She was an adorable lady in red, who seemed ready to play a few fun games from the start of her session. "Peek-a-boo!"

The 18 month old beauty with an unforgettable grin from ear to ear...

Over the river and through the woods to D'Marie Photography we go... With these long time 3 1/2 year old twin clients there is never a moment without smiles. Mom did a wonderful job picking out the bright pink and blue shirts, definitely "pops" out against a white background.

You can just hear her thought, "Are we supposed to look at the camera NOW?"

This shot is precious. You can see how much she loves her brother, and even though it looks like he wouldn't admit it, if you look really close you can tell he feels the same. A ton of fun with these two as always!

These two brothers dressed in brown were full of smiles and fun at our first shoot together. Right from the get go big brother was rockin' and rollin' having a ball showing off all of his original dance moves!

Little brother just looked so content and was throwing smile after smile at the camera.

Who wants those boring school photos when you can have results like this young man did? It was his first time here and his images came out pretty great. His deep blue shirt worked really well to bring out his brilliant smile and eyes.

It is rare that a client this age comes in, but he was a joy to work with and we got some amazing angles that a school picture just doesn't give.

Wedding season is here!! I had my first of the season on April 30th, but the bride & groom want to be the first to see their images... so you'll have to wait until June to get the story on that one.

But for #2 I went along as 2nd photographer for my friend Chelse, and it was a beautiful day!

{No flower or cake vendor to share, this couple opted for candles instead of flowers, and a simple cheesecake instead of a traditional wedding cake!}

I can't possibly do justice to this entire event in a blog post, but let's give it a try.

They opted for a "first look", where bride & groom see each other before the wedding in a quiet spot, just the two of them (and photographers of course).

All of the formal photos were taken immediately following the first look; the venue is so incredibly interesting for the indoor portion, and the weather was gorgeous for the outdoor portion!

Back inside with Abby & Tony for a little longer. Seriously, the entire building is a photographers dream, so many cool spots to work with!

All of that happened before the ceremony! Now the guys get whisked off in one direction, and the girls in another. I stayed with them to capture the final moments before walking down the aisle. In order to get to their "waiting room" we had to be taken through the back halls of the facility, which was an incredible maze. We actually passed a dog and cat that lived in one section, and since I'm a cat person, fluffy got a quick portrait. Love how he is watching the parade of girls pass by!

Clearly a close-knit group, the toasts were very touching.

A quick dinner break (which was delicious) and back for more festivities. They chose just a simple cheesecake but still took the opportunity to do a traditional cake cutting.

(Just FYI, if Uncle Joe stands behind you with his nice camera, he's going to be in most of your shots, haha)

First dances and a great job by the Hi-Risers, giving off that vintage vibe!

I photographed this beautiful little family last fall (here) and found out later that she was actually just pregnant with baby #2 in those photos!

Alex arrived by himself at the studio on a dark rainy night for his Senior Portraits. With just 2 outfits and no props, he was just looking for a simple session. (mom told me later that he wasn't crazy about the idea of having them taken!)

But we cranked up my Ipod and took some time to chat between shots, and he loosened right up. Alex is actually a Senior 2011; McQuaid handles all yearbook photos in the school, so they didn't have that time constraint that the public schools have.

This is a wedding from last July, and while it was a beautiful event, it was so long ago that some of the details are a little sketchy in my head so bear with me!

Ceremony: a white church on Main St. in Canandaigua, no idea of the name :-)

I spent the morning with the groom, his family, and the groomsmen. I love how relaxed the guys always are that morning. They played bocce and did shots! And of course we did a variety of formal photos.

I got lost on the way to the ceremony but still made it in plenty of time to run into the middle of the street for a full venue shot!

Both the bride & groom are teachers so they fittingly had a school bus for their transportation all day!

I stayed up in the balcony for the ceremony, I love working up there because I have complete freedom of movement.

I remember it was a HOT sunny day and golf courses are awesome places for the formal photos!

I got to work with this family many times over the past year or so, and we snuck one more into 2010 with a Mini Session. It was pretty cold but sunny that day, and we braved the outdoors for 20 minutes to capture these adorable family photos.

I love the bright fall colors we were able to find despite it being very late in November when most of the trees were bare!

These crazy kids are getting married later this year, and I am so happy to be photographing their wedding!!

{ 8 month portraits } rochester, ny modern baby photographer

When I'm so behind on blogging, a few of the details from the session get a little fuzzy in my brain. But I'll do my best here!

I think this little guy was around the 8 or 9 month old mark. It was one of the sessions where mom & dad let me do the "styling". What's styling? They show up with baby in a white onesie and jeans (aka, blank canvas), and let me make all the decisions on backgrounds, props, and additional outfits or accessories. Basically, it's tons of fun for me :-)

It's hard to remember now that it's December and snowing like crazy, but this summer was H-O-T. The day of Danielle & Brody's wedding it was bright & sunny, and the kind of day where you almost melt!

I generally spend lots of time with the groomsmen before the wedding when I'm 2nd shooting, but I got to sneak a shot of the girls this time too!

The ceremony was simple and full of emotion.

I love the details of weddings, always some of my favorite shots.

It's a bit of a drive from Rochester, but Esperanza Mansion is great venue to check out if you're a bride-to-be! It's just gorgeous!

Yay I'm blogging! :-)

Alyssa was my only Brockport student this year for Senior Portraits. About a week before the yearbook deadline we finally fit her in and had a super easy & casual session. At 6 ft tall, and stunningly gorgeous, it was like working with a professional model. Fabulous!

I totally lifted this color-block background idea from my friend Chelse!

She can totally rock a hat!

Wow it's been a while since I blogged! Blame Facebook, it's so easy to just put a picture or two up!

I have a ton of images to show you from summer weddings, senior & families... they won't be in any particular order, just whatever strikes me at the time.

Michelle was one of my last outdoor seniors. We had to reschedule due to rain, but I'm so glad we did- her day was amazing despite the wind. Keeping it short & sweet, here are some of my absolute favorite images that show the incredible fall colors!

A few more senior sessions are coming up this month, and I'm finally catching up on blogging some from earlier this year!

Santiaga booked very early in the season but purposely chose a date in late September so she didn't have to deal with the 90+ temps we had all summer. Of course it was 85 the day of her session anyways, lol. With a yearbook deadline only days away, I skipped her blog post in order to get her gallery moving asap.

A self-confident girl, she was just totally comfortable with who she is. Here are a few of my favorites to capture all that personality!

I love that Olympia pushed their yearbook deadline out this year - November 30th! That gives me a few more weeks to fit some last minute senior portraits in.

Michelle had her studio portion a week or so ago... what can I say about these images except they are SO simple, clean & fabulous! Here are a few of my favorites:

Michelle is a super happy, bubbly girl - but I made her try some serious shots too. WOW, she can rock that look when she wants to!!

I've had lots of dancers in the studio before, but never one with a tutu! She had this specially made for her session, awesome!

As senior portrait season winds down, we roll right into peak season for kids & families!

The forecast was pretty bleak on this day, but we actually had a beautiful fall morning! I met this mom a few years ago in a photography class downtown. We sort of lost touch, and then along comes Facebook. Yay! And since it's virtually impossible to photograph your OWN family session, I was honored when she asked me to take care of it for her.

This first location was just a random spot along a road that I noticed a few days before. Unfortunately we got yelled at for trespassing so I'm not going to mention where it is, lol. But it was beautiful for sure!! (And in case you're wondering, yes this is the real sky, not one I photoshopped in :-)

A short drive to a nearby park and more gorgeous fall colors!

Mom knows I love kids in hats, so she brought along a few to use!

This is the very last frame from the session, and I think it's my very favorite one of them all together! As much as a photographer loves a wide shot to capture the scenery along with the family.... I think a perfectly exposed close up with everyone smiling is what it's all about!

Steph couldn't have had a more perfect evening for the outdoor portion of her senior portraits! Warm but not hot, gorgeous sunlight, and the leaves just starting to turn...

I love when I've been to a park a dozen times and still find brand new spots I never knew existed. Like this one, WOW!!

Since most of my clients are from referrals, senior portraits tend to come in groups from a few schools. Elliott is another West Irondequoit senior, the boyfriend of last week's adorable Francesca!

Mom and Franny came along to his session, but he made them wait in the sitting room, haha. It was a good strategy because he was nice and relaxed!

We did a few shots of them together... it's your time, you can use it however you want!

Once again the prop-shot is one of my favorite.

A suit doesn't have to be stuffy, this shot rocks!

It's been the season for Odyssey, by far the highest number of seniors from there this year! I asked Brian how he found me; he said he looked through his friends images on Facebook and whichever logo he saw the most he was booking with. That was me, yay!

Brian came to his 45 minute session with 4 outfits and a slight aversion to getting his photo taken, lol. We struck up a conversation about our love of skiing (or snowboarding in his case) and our travels to Switzerland and he relaxed, making for some fabulous images!

Love the color of this first shirt!

In this next set there are actually (2) different shirts... I didn't believe he changed when he came out in the second one, haha. One is blue with white, and one is white with blue :-)

We finished up in a great casual hoodie. Love the shadows in this black & white conversion.

I really love blogging and giving each session a meaningful sneak peak while sharing their story. But this is the height of busy season and I'm already behind on getting this posted (I'm sorry Francesca!) and it's the kind of week where I'm so exhausted I fell asleep on the floor while putting my son to bed tonight.

I met Jake a few months ago through my step-daughter Hannah, and we soon figured out that I took his sister's senior portraits a few years ago. Small world!

Now it's Jake's turn. We ventured down to the beach about an hour before sunset one evening for his session. Normally that's perfect, but a storm was moving in and it was crazy windy, a bit chilly, and we were losing sunlight fast. Most sessions at the beach revolve around the bath house and sand, but Jake wanted to check out the pier and lighthouse which was a great choice. We're calling this Part I because we weren't able to finish his session that night due to the light. More to come soon.

But for now here are some of my favorites!

Soccer stuff first:

It took us a long time to get all the way down the pier because I kept getting distracted with spots along the way I wanted to use.

Finally we made it. It was entertaining to watch all the boats try to head out on the choppy water, only to turn around before making it out of the channel!

The sky changed again for just a few minutes on the way back down the pier - it was so awesome!!

Part II will be in the studio or by the Ferry Terminal, yet to be decided!!

The last of the Olympia girls this week! Andrea was in Friday night and came with (3) outfits... all some version of black & white. That's actually fun because we can add different pops of color with backgrounds and props!

This is such a classy shot.

Man can she rock a serious face or what!

Andrea was totally bummed when she found out she had to go back into braces for the 2nd time, the summer before senior year. So she prefers to smile without showing her teeth, but let me take a few shots of that beautiful smile.

I love the power in this shot... it looks like some kind of ad in a magazine!

By the end of the session sometimes I can get request a series of goofy shots and not get a strange look, lol. Andrea was a great sport, these are adorable.

Lots of Olympia girls all in a row! They're all kids in the musical program, and just super sweet!

This was one of the very last shots of the night, and one of my favorites. Just simple and classic!

Looking nice & relaxed here!

Erica's mom was in the room and they have a really cute relationship- she was a little shy in front of the camera but when I'd turn my back she would do something silly for mom. Finally I captured one of the moments and it's just perfect.

The last set with the guitar... she's only been playing for a few years but I asked her to play on the spot and it sounded awesome!

I haven't had a newborn in the studio in a while so I was super excited to meet this little family earlier this week!

Baby girl was just shy of 4 weeks old, and after 20-30 minutes she zonked right out and slept wonderfully. Look how many times we moved her to different set ups, lol.

This is the first time I've used this for a newborn, I love it!

Yeah, I'm slightly obsessed with this red chair!

Family shots with new babies are always my favorite in black & white! Gorgeous!!

Maureen was in for her session on the same day as Steph (previous post). I always tell my clients, I try very hard to make each session unique, especially when kids are from the same school! So take a look and see how I did :-)

I met Maureen a few years ago when I became involved with taking pictures for the Olympia musicals. She's a talented singer and played Belle in their production of Beauty & the Beast!

She showed up for her session with a tiny plastic bag with a few shirts in it. No props, just simple and straightforward was what she wanted!

This is a bench I rarely get to use because it's such a strong pattern. Her outfit worked perfectly and I love the subtle touch it adds.

Pink (or teal) are probably my favorite colors against the dark gray background. She looks so comfy in this pose, it suits her well.

A couple of great photographers in other states whose blogs I follow use a green piece of furniture against the gray, and I've always thought it looked so classy. I finally got to borrow the concept with my own spin with this new chair!

Maureen wasn't sure if she wanted to use this last sweater she brought, but I convinced her to use it with a bold color. Yup, pretty awesome.

This is the week for senior girls so get ready for lots of blogging!

Steph came with lots of great outfits and a bag full of running shoes! The leopard print worked great with a basic backdrop, and on the modern black/red set up. I'm way too in love with this new red chair!

She's full of smiles, and we didn't do a lot of serious shots, but the ones we did she totally rocked! (Yeah, we have a fan blowing!)

Ever since I started watching the TLC show "What Not to Wear" I've been a big fan of a neutral outfit with a colorful shoe. These shoes are too cute!!

Speaking of shoes... Steph is a cross-country runner. I'm tired just thinking about all the running that must go along with that many pairs of sneakers!

Look for Steph's Part II (in curly hair!) when we decide on an outdoor location!

Kayleigh was a Facebook contest winner this spring (50% off her session fee!) and originally contacted me for a studio session... she emailed later to ask if she could bring a dog as her prop. SURE, I've had dogs in before. Later that day she called to ask if we could move it outdoors because she was bringing FIVE dogs to her session! Um, yeah outdoor session, haha.

Why so many dogs?? Kayleigh (and her mom) are volunteers for a great organization called Pitty Love Rescue which is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and responsible re-homing of abandoned, abused, and neglected pit bull and pit bull mix type dogs. Very cool!

We left the pooches with mom & dad and headed off for the rest of the session!

Kayleigh is also taking Karate and is currently a green belt. She pulled out some cool moves for me, but I think this 'resting' one is powerful!

I totally love these tall trees... Tim & I actually did our wedding photos here a few years ago! A great way to end the day, these images rock!

This entire session was shot with available natural light (no flash). Thanks for coming out Kayleigh, it was awesome!!

Most of the kids booking the indoor + outdoor package this year are splitting them into (2) separate appointments... mostly because they are girls who want to do curly AND straight hair :-)

Justine was back this week for her Part II in the studio and brought lots of fun outfits & props.

She was in love with this fabric from our first meeting. Usually we are squeezing it in at the end of a session and we just do a few quick headshots, so I made sure to try a sitting pose on it, and it looks great!

I always recommend some bright colors & patterns for seniors, they photograph so well!

Justine is a faithful Facebook/Blog follower and requested we use this chair that her friend used last year. (I kind of forgot I had it & haven't used it all season). It was the perfect set up for her sports gear.

How cute is this... she & her mom did a few shots together! Awesome!

Justine it was lots of fun! Tell your friends to venture out to Greece, I'd love to have them :-)

September is Senior Portrait frenzy with yearbook deadlines coming up quick! Krista was in for a 45 minute session this week and if you're not sure what you can get accomplished in that amount of time.... take a look!

We started out with a nice traditional canvas backdrop, and outfit #1:

I love this next shirt she was wearing (although this shot doesn't you see much of it, lol) and we used the white background and a few on the flower fabric.

Black on black is so awesome! We threw in the red chair for fun on a few!

And in the last few frames I let Krista pick a bold color she wanted to use. I so love the blue!! And can she totally rock a serious face or what!

Justine attends a private school in Batavia, but she found me through Amanda, one of my seniors from last year. Yay for referrals!

Her graduating class is very small (50 ish) and most of them get their portraits done at the same place out there... Justine wanted something different! We split her session into 2 parts, and the weather was gorgeous last night for her shots at Charlotte Beach!

We talked a lot beforehand about what to wear, and she came well prepared. Love the colors & textures!!

Her puppy was her prop, haha. We took three quick shots and she was actually looking at me in every one!

She has been dancing since she was 3 and added Pointe a few years ago. How cool is this? First of all the sky/water looked amazing that night, split right down the middle with blue and a light pink. Second of all... she is ON POINTE on the beach! Awesome!!

Part 2 is coming next week, can't wait!!!

Are YOU a fan on Facebook yet? This couple won a contest on my fan page earlier this year and had a FREE session with me last night! For their engagement wedding photos with another photographer they used some urban locations, so they wanted to shake it up and do something different (aka, nature & greenery!).

We headed off to one of my absolute favorite parks and created some amazing images despite the threat of rain.

This field is a great spot and changes with the seasons... the yellow right now is gorgeous!

A short walk and some more awesome spots! In another 6 weeks these trees will be super yellow, but I completely enjoy their green-ness for this shot!

I made them do some goofy photographer stuff, like "sit on this bench and pretend to talk" and "just look off into space", and it's usually good for a laugh. (um, which is the point of my goofy randomness :-)

{ Family Portraits & 1 year Cake Smash } rochester, ny photographer

I've been photographing this little guy since he was just a few weeks old, and now he's graduated from the baby club with his cake smash *sigh* that happens so fast!

But first mom & dad finally let me get them in some family shots!

I like to capture as many different groupings in a session as possible, and even though the little guy was teething and only let me get two frames with each parent, these shots are priceless.

Time for cake! Special thanks to the bakery at Mt. Read Wegmans for taking care of me last minute when my first cake fell thru due to a health issue (I hope you are feeling better!!) I called at 8pm on Sunday, and was able to pick this up at 10am the next day... and oh how I LOVE the design they came up with!!

Maybe my first smash ever where none was actually eaten. Not one bite! But he did some good damage playing with it nonetheless!

We captured this entire session, including the cake smash, in about 35 minutes. Hey, when your kid is done, they're done, and it's totally ok! I've got you covered!!

I'm taking the rest of the week off from sessions to get caught up on galleries, but summer mayhem continues next week so be sure to check back for families, couples, seniors and weddings!!

August is turning out to be one of the busiest on record, which is totally awesome, but slows my blogging time down just a tad! So here is a session from last week...

With family visiting from out of state, we had a small window of opportunity to get these portraits done of the 3 cousins for the first time! The weather was a little ominous but we were able to have fun outside in Gramma's backyard.

The oldest one wasn't sure what to make of this whole photo THING, lol. I LOVE this one!

I always try to get some individual shots of kids in the session too. Personalities shine thru in that one-on-one time!

As is the norm, getting 3 kids under the age of 5 to sit for a group shot is nothing short of aerobic.... but it's always worth it. So cute!! You could see how the boys completely adore their little cousin!

I met Melanie a few weeks ago when she came in with Stephanie to check out the studio. Since her school allows an outdoor image to be used in the yearbook, she decided to go with an outdoor only session. We had the PERFECT summer night to hang out downtown and capture these amazing images!

I love this age!! The 7-9 month baby is the perfect model; they can't run away and they tend to be pretty good sports about wearing hats, being put in baskets, etc. Plus, they're just so dang cute with all that baby chub!!

I photographed this little lady when she was just a few weeks old with her big sister back in January... how did she get so big already??

This set up is mom's favorite in my galleries so we put it to good use right away. You know how I love a headband or hat on a little one - mom MADE this one, woo hoo!

And a brand new set up I was trying out. OH how I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!

We got rained out for this family's session a few weeks ago, so we rescheduled for an early morning session (8am!) and had the perfect day this time!

The twins Grampa works with my husband Tim, and they were born just a few weeks after Ben. So although this was the first time we met, I've been following their progress for almost a year & a half. Two adorable little bundles of energy!

I've worked with a lot of twins (and even 2 different sets of triplets), and it's fun to see their connection. Sister saw a boat coming down the canal and pointed it out for brother. Too cute!!

Mom specifically wanted some shots of them all walking, and there are several but this might be my favorite with the little guy looking back at me. The candid, real moments are always my favorite images! So talk, laugh, and play with your kids during your session - they'll make great memories!!

I've known Nick for a year or so through my step kids, and I got to photograph him with his siblings last December. He was back last week for Senior Portraits, fun!!

First the classic outfit, the kind parents & grandparents like to see!

Then came outfit #2... he was so comfortable in it, you could just feel the shift in the energy!

In years past, the prop shots were kind of just THERE. This year they are some of my absolute favorites images!! The kids are pulling out all the stops and coming with super creative poses they want to try. I love it!!

Another one of my highly photographed families was back this week for some updated portraits! Mom works hard at picking the perfect outfits, which I totally appreciate. Adorable coordination as always!

A few of little sister, who somehow turned 6 months already!! (Wasn't it just last week I shot her newborn session??

Big brother kept us hopping as any good 2-1/2 year old will do! Mom had some good tricks up her sleeve including jumping off of an ottoman to keep him happy & entertained! You know your children best... don't be afraid to break out those suggestions in the session!

For a decade or so in a former life, I was a materials buyer for a machine shop. Rob was one of the first sales people I worked with, and he was so patient with me as I stumbled through my first months, completely butchering the lingo of the industry as I tried to get quotes and place orders.

We worked together for my whole career and became good friends along the way. I had the privilege of photographing both of his boys senior portraits in the past, and this week we got to do some family portraits! Yay!

We spent an hour enjoying a hot summer night, walking around a park, and getting these awesome images!

When I'm working with a group of tweens/teens/adults it's a fun time for me to try some funky shots that have been floating around in my head. Just super love both of these - they'd make fabulous pieces of art in their house!

I love to see this kind of connection in a family... you can't fake that kind of bond! Thanks for letting me be there, it was great to see you guys!

I don't normally schedule sessions the day after a long wedding, but I have so few Saturday appointments available that I made an exception this weekend. I'm glad I did because I was able to meet this adorable little family!

Dad made all the arrangements for the session as a gift to mom (awww, I love that!) and I found out at the end that this was their first ever family portrait!

We did some individual portraits of the boys, and they both fell in love with the rocking horse. It's such a great prop because kids under 4 don't stay put for very long otherwise, haha.

It's the summer of weddings alongside EIEIO Photography! Chelse rocks it out as lead photographer, and I love being her wing man, um wing girl.

Ironically the ceremony was at the same church that Theresa & Mike got married at just a few weeks ago! And as usual when I'm 2nd shooting, I TAKE alot of "off" shots, which means I BLOG alot of "off" shots! So here we go!

I love a big family... probably because mine is tiny! I got to photograph 4 beautiful cousins together at their Gramma's house, and there was family everywhere! How cool for these little ones to grow up surrounded by so much love.

The ultimate goal was to get a shot of them together for a big BIG print to hang in Gramma's stairwell. It was a challenge with the ages being 2 months, 4 months, 4 years, and 5 years but we did it! There are a couple of them, but this one is my favorite.

We tried to get all 4 of them for an overhead shot, but little lady wouldn't have it... the boys were patiently waiting and I LOVE this shot!

You may remember a couple of these little faces from their portraits last December... they were wearing the newsboy caps and were TOO adorable! (so adorable that the image ended up on my most recent marketing card!)

Well I met up with the whole family this time for some portraits in a park not too far from the studio. It was one of those really sticky days but we stayed in the shade and captured their first family portrait in a good 5 years! (Um, clearly there have been a few additions since that last portrait!)

With a playground in view, the kids were less than interested in the photo session, but we did manage to get some super cute individual shots of them!

I have to share this moment... while we were in the "woods" the kids saw this fallen log and had to check it out. Big brother found some sort of bug and I love how the little ones rushed over to investigate alongside him. Too cute!!

$100 includes session fee for up to 3 people and ALL of your images on CD in high resolution with rights to print.

Location: Sawyer Park on Long Pond Rd in Greece. Rain back up is my studio.
Times: (5) slots available from 9:30am to noon
Session Details: Each session will be about 20 minutes. We'll use 2 locations within the park. Your CD will contain the best (10-15) images from the session!
Payment: A $25 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot. The balance is due at the session.

(Please note, Senior Portraits cannot be accomodated in a mini session.)

{ Family Portraits } rochester, ny modern family portrait photographer

One of my most faithful client families (I think I've photographed them in some capacity 8 times in the past 2 years!) had their first outdoor family portrait session. It was pouring so hard on the drive out that I almost had to pull over... but when we arrived at the park, it was perfectly dry and overcast. Yay!

We started with some of the boys together.

Then we added in the little sister. I love the moment captured here.

Mom & dad's should always get a few of themselves too!

This little lady hasn't given me many smiles in 2010... we're hopeful that 2011 gets better :-) But wait what's this... I'm pretty sure she was only smiling at her big brother over my shoulder but I'll take it!

The boys are smiling literally because it was the last frame I was taking and they'd be DONE, haha!

Stephanie was back last week for the studio portion of her senior portraits. It's fun when the session is split because Steph was able to wear her hair 2 different ways, and bring completely different outfits for TONS of variety!

This pink shirt was so versatile, we used it with 4 different backdrops!

Outfit #2... I love how these bold colors look against the black!

Maybe my absolute favorite image from the session! We had some discussion about whether the converse "matched" the outfit. They're perfect!!!

But we did some bare feet shots too, which is totally classic!

I'm a bit behind on blogging, it's been a busy month of shooting (woo hoo!). This is a wedding from a few weeks ago, 2nd shooting for my favorite girl Chelse from EIEIO Photography.

On one of those super hot days, Tanya & Paul had a beautiful outdoor ceremony overlooking the Lake. When I'm 2nd shooting, my job is to capture the more random images that add to the story of the day so that's what you'll see here!

I usually hang out with the guys pre-ceremony. They were a lively bunch... they pulled this shot off perfectly! (and guys, YES you could see every one of those bugs in the sky, I had to remove them in photoshop!)

The flower girl & ring bearer were so concerned with picking all of those flower petals up, it was adorable!

Although I'm not sure Tanya actually got to taste it here?? LOL

{ 6 month & Cousin Portraits } rochester, ny photographer

These 3 little blonde cuties came in for the baby's 6 month portraits, and the cousins together for the first time. What an easy session!

The older girls are so good with the baby, and you can tell how much she loves them right back!

Each of the girls got some time in the spotlight. An hour session was perfect to get all the different shots they needed, and a few outfit changes too!

And because 6-9 months is a super age (they generally can't crawl or run away from me yet, lol) we did some fun stuff with a tu-tu. Love it!

This little guy has been to my studio a few times now, and he was back for 2 year portraits this week! A 30-minute session is perfect for this age because of their attention span.

He wasn't loving the whole photo THING but there will still be a nice selection of images for mom to choose from! Here are a few of my favorites:

Then something got his attention! (maybe ME, jumping around like a lunatic?? lol) Mom said this is an expression he makes a lot and is one of her favorites.

An awesome zebra bean bag chair brings out a big smile!

I met Stephanie a week or so ago when she & her mom came in to meet with me and check the studio out. They liked what they saw and called to book Steph's senior portraits later that day!

We did the outdoor part this week, and although the weather was a little unpredictable that day, it ended up being perfect for shooting.

I had a REALLY hard time selecting which images to blog because frame after frame was amazing! But here are a few of my early favorites.

Then off to Charlotte Beach! A lot of clients select this location, but it's a great choice because there are SO many areas to use... and I work hard to make YOUR session different than anyone elses!

Steph was completely interested in getting right in the sand AND water, yay!

Friday night I attended a fabulous party... for 8 year olds :-) Mom hired me to run a photobooth and the kids had SO much fun! I don't post images that I don't have model releases for, so here are just a few where everyone is incongnito!

Even the grown-ups got in on the fun!

After 30 minutes or so the novelty wore off, so I photographed the rest of the festivities.

All you moms out there... you should consider having a photographer at your next party! You know you are usually too busy to pick up your camera anyways! Little kids, big kids, graduations, anniversaries... summer books up quick so get in touch with me soon to get on the calendar!

I had my last wedding of the season earlier this month (don't worry, I'm doing tons of 2nd shooting and you'll see plenty of fabulous wedding images all year long!). Theresa & Mike live out of state and had a totally laid back wedding here in Rochester to be central to family & friends coming in from all over.

{ 1 year portraits & cake smash } rochester, ny photographer

This adorable set of brothers, which I have been photographing since the little one was born, were back today for some portraits and a cake smash. Mom had sent me photos of all the outfits ahead of time, and I LOVE when clients do that because it allows me to really customize the session!

This bench was one of my best purchases this year. Serious cuteness here!

How perfect are these next two props for their outfits?!

We got lots of awesome shots in just 20 minutes. They were a total breeze to work with! CAKE TIME! Now if you're a regular blog reader, you know I've had a bunch of cake-haters lately but this little guy really had a good time, yay!

After his first few tastes of frosting, he starting signing "more" to his mom, hee hee. That's right baby, dig right in!

Victor High has officially kicked off my Senior Portrait season with 2 guys within a week! Your tests are wrapping up this week, time to start thinking about your portraits!!

Meet Logan... basketball player (he's 6'5" tall!!) and awesome trumpet player (yes, I made him play a little). He came well prepared for his 3 hour session and there are so many amazing images!

I spent a gorgeous morning alongside fellow photographers George and Chelse (Glow Weddings) to photograph Katharine & Brian's engagement session. They have a fantastic wedding planned for this August and I'm really looking forward to it.

They were naturals in front of the camera, too easy!!

Here's a fun behind the scenes look at that last shot, thanks to George. Yes, I really bring along a ladder to sessions to get the perfect angle! That's what it takes when you are not even 5'2" tall!

Katharine's bridal shower was picnic themed, and they brought along the cutest set up for a few shots. Adorable!
