Trish & Dexter (part one) | Rochester, NY modern wedding photographer

Is it wedding season already?? Ok not quite, but I went a long with Chelse from EIEIO / Glow Photography for an awesome (and rare) winter wedding.

I'm taking a limited number of weddings for myself this year, but I'm 2nd shooting a lot so you'll still get to see tons of amazing wedding images all year. I'm blogging this one in 2 parts because there is too much I want to talk about!

First the venue: The Del Monte Lodge. I have only good to say!! Gorgeous facility, great set up for a smaller event, wonderfully attentive staff, AMAZING food. Highly recommend checking it out brides!

Ok now on to the photos. As a 2nd shooter I get the fun of taking lots of non-traditional and detail shots and it's soooo much fun.

Despite it being 7 degrees out, and the bride being in open toe shoes, they ventured outside for some family photos. Chelse was working with the kids and I snuck behind some branches to get this candid of them looking on.

This cake is too cute with the little bride & groom birds! Best winter themed cake ever!

Details, details details!!

I happened to walk by the bride & groom's table - love the table tags for themselves, and how the bride's spot is marked by her bouquet, which the groom's is marked by a beer :-)

A band in the background makes for a super cool first dance!

Have a great rest of your weekend everyone and look for part 2 of this event in the next day or so!

1 Year Portraits & Cake Smash | Rochester, NY Child Photographer

Lots of babies turning the big O-N-E! Look at this beauty! I've known her mommy for many years (we graduated together) but we just reconnected on Facebook.

All cake smash sessions now include time for traditional portraits first, which I think is a great change for 2010.

A few of my favorites:

After 15 minutes or so, a quick outfit change and we got to the real fun. And boy did she LOVE every minute of it! I think this was the most enjoyed cake to date!

See you girls on Friday!!

Melon Bean Eatery portrait event

If you're a regular blog reader or Facebook friend, you know how much I love Melon Bean Eatery. It's a kid-friendly coffee shop in Gates and another mommy-owned local business. We thought it would be fun to do a portrait event and shoot right there on location so we put together an event for this past Friday. It was a great success! 4 hours, 6 sessions, 9 kids!!

There are a lot of images to sort through, but here are some of my favorites:

Oh my.... this is just too gorgeous...

A couple other cuties are using their images as a surprise gift for daddy, so you'll have to wait to see those until next month. We're thinking of putting another event together for March - more great sessions, more great deals. Keep watching for the details!

Thanks to everyone who came out! It was great to see old friends and meet new families. And special thanks to Andrea at Melon Bean for making it just all around aweseome!

Newborn & Sibling Portraits | Rochester NY Modern Newborn and Child Photographer

I wasn't going to post this session until tomorrow but I'm just so in love with these images that I couldn't wait :-)

The most adorable little family was in today for portraits of their girls together. Mom & Dad were in a wedding I photographed a few years ago, and I love Facebook for keeping in touch with people!!

We had a super relaxed session that just flowed. Big Sister is about to turn 4, and Little Sister just turned 6 weeks old today.

Four is a really fun age because you can have silly conversations to help loosen kids up. I think my piggy puppet was "taking" this photo, which clearly was hysterical!

And I'm a sucker for a ridiculous close up.

I bought a piece of fuzzy cream fabric yesterday and it's always hard to decide which one to get, hoping it photographs the way you envision in your head. I chose wisely, and I love this shot!!

I had some version of this image in mind before the session, and I just had to get it to work. Big Sister was not too fond of the idea but eventually she helped me out and it's even better than I could've planned with her natural affection for Little Sister shining through!

It was truly enjoyable you guys - great to see you again!!

New website feature!

I'm so excited to announce a brand new website feature: FAVORITES!

All images now have a button directly below them "add to favorites". (When viewing at full size, not thumbnail size) Once you've added at least one photo, a new category will appear under Photo Galleries specifically for YOUR FAVORITES.

It's cookie-enabled so only your computer will see the favorites you have selected, and they'll stay there until either you remove them or clear your cookies.

Clients that are trying to narrow down selections in their gallery when placing an order are going to LOVE this feature!!!

Give it a try and let me know how you like it!

Couple Portraits: Brandy & Po | Rochester, NY Modern Portrait Photographer

I met up with my adorable friends for some portraits today. No special reason, just looking for some updated images for themselves & family since their last professional shots were at their wedding... almost 7 years ago!

I love working with friends because it's actually nothing at all like work. A relaxing afternoon, complete with a cup of coffee at an adorable place downtown. Totally loved every minute.

I'm still battling a terrible sinus cold, so no more rambling from me. Just on to a few of my favorite photos!!! (I know a few of you are silently cheering right now, haha)

Twins 1 Year Portraits | Rochester, NY Modern Child Photographer

An interesting coincidence that I've had many twin & triplet clients in the last year or so! Today was a set of identical little girls who turned 1 last month, and whose older siblings are a set of fraternal twins! They've been fighting lots of sickness (along with the rest of us, blah) but we were finally able to get them in for their session today. Yay!!

Always a challenging age- they just move so darn fast :-) They stayed put on this trunk for about 29 seconds I think!

Any second now I'm going to forget which individual photos are of which girl, but for the moment I KNOW these shots are one of each, lol:

Thanks for playing today cuties!!
