1 Year Portraits & Cake Smash | Rochester, NY Child Photographer

Today was a combination session for 1 year portraits and a cake smash! I had a hard time narrowing down what I wanted to post on the blog... I think I picked 14 images on my first pass! So I cut it down a little and am posting some of the more off-beat images.

A few from the portrait portion:

And a few from the cake smash:

Ok, this one just cracks me up! There's no way to look at this & not smile!

Those are "cake tracks" he made while crawling away, lol

When you show a baby cake and he cries... you know the session is over!

It was lots of fun, thanks for letting me give your baby a sugar rush :-) I hope you enjoy them so far!!

Susanne & Tim: Wedding | Rochester, NY Wedding Photographer

Yesterday was one of those really rare PERFECT Rochester days - the kind of day when everyone says "Wow it would be a great day for a wedding"!

I went along with Chelse from Glow Photography for a gorgeous wedding overlooking Canandaigua Lake! Casual & trendy, this couple really had the day they wanted. A beautiful ceremony overlooking the lake, and an outdoor reception right in their own backyard!

I love the look on the groom's face (far left) as he's watching his bride walk towards him.

Some of the fun moments during formal time.

Some quiet time to enjoy the view.

The sun was setting, and their yard is surrounded by this giant bales of hay... we couldn't resist getting a few shots!

I always try to get a unique shot of the rings, and I must've tried a dozen shots... none of which I was happy with. We went inside looking for the bride's bouquet, and I saw this little candle display. The light was perfect, and in one click, I got the shot I wanted.

They had a giant tent in their backyard for the reception - the lights were so cool!

It was a gorgeous day - I hope you all did something fun outside to enjoy it! Off I go to get ready for today's session. Another post coming soon!

Senior Portraits: Nick - Arcadia | Rochester, NY Modern Senior Portraits

I was driving to pick up Ben today from my mom's house around 1pm. Now if you were outside at this time in Greece today, you remember because it was the craziest lightning, rain and hail storm we've had in a long time! Almost everyone on 390 North was pulled over, just waiting it out.

And as I was sitting there, wondering if my car was getting dented (wait, my car is fiberglass, lol) I thought of the session I had scheduled for tonight. A senior with studio and an outdoor location. I thought for SURE we'd have to reschedule. But since this is Rochester I decided to wait FIVE MINUTES, and sure enough the rain stopped and it even got beautiful out!

So here we go- this is Nick... an upcoming Senior at Greece Arcadia. (ah, my old stomping grounds!)

I especially love this first shot, b/c it's one of those really true smiles.

I'm always looking for new outdoor locations to keep things fresh from year to year. This was a new spot I scoped out over the past few weeks and I love it!!

Nick- you have a great smile... but man can you rock a serious shot too!! It was fun working with you! I hope you enjoy them so far!! I'll let you know as soon as the full gallery is ready.

Custom Collages- yes they're available!

After a session, I feel like there is information overload... this is when your images will be on my blog, this is when they'll be in the gallery, this is how you access it, this is how you find your image # to order... the list goes on & on. Honestly I feel like if I tell clients one more thing none of it will be remembered, so I try to keep to the necessities and let them know that if they wonder "do you offer...." just ask, because the answer probably is YES!

Case in point: custom collages. I make them, completely from scratch. The sky is the limit as far as sizes, styles, text, etc. So while I don't promote them much, they are definately available! You get (3) design samples, and then (2) edits.

Here's one I did recently for a client. They requested a square layout, in black & white, and showcasing the hands & feet shots. Simple and clean... I love it!
[FYI, as a rule I don't use childrens names on my blog or website, so this is an alias :-)]

So if you've seen something cool, and wondered if it's available for your session, don't be shy- just ask! That's the beauty of working with a private photographer!

Always love to hear from a fan...

I got a message through my website today and I've been doing this long enough to let stuff like this roll, so I thought I'd share and give you some amusement too :-)

I'm sorry, but these are not professional photos, these are sorely amaturish, and lacking in crativity and imagination. Go to school, learn to do it right. You are an embarrasment to those of us that actually learned how to do this correctly, and paid our dues.

Maybe he should go back to school and learn how to spell "amateurish", "creativity", and "embarrassment" correctly, lol.

Infant Portraits | Rochester, NY Newborn and Infant Photographer

A few weeks ago I had a combination session for a newborn, her older brothers, and the whole family. It was a hectic day and the little peanut girl just couldn't get comfortable for her photo shoot, and we only got a few frames. So I invited mom & baby back today for another mini session. I can't believe how much she's changed already in just 3 weeks!

From the first session, when she was 2 weeks old:

And from todays session at 5 weeks old:

Hee hee, she looks adorably chubby here!

Love the dress & love her "poses"!

Another baby rockin an awesome hat!

Enjoy mommy & daddy!!!

Junk Mail Filters - it's a love/hate relationship

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I just want to remind my faithful blog followers (and any newbies looking in!) that I have continuing issues with Junk Mail Filters!

So if you've emailed me... I'll get it. I'm pretty sure I GET all of my messages. But when I reply... VERY OFTEN I get stuck in your junk mail folders, or just blocked completely!

If you're trying to communicate with me via email, or thru my website, and you haven't received an answer from me within 2 days- please check those junk mail folders! (Very often my reply time is only a matter of hours!) Or better yet- zip me over another email with a phone number where I can reach you!

Newborn & Sibling Portraits | Rochester NY Newborn and Child Photographer

I had an adorable session today out in Sodus for a newborn & his almost 4 year old big brother. (If you're outside of Rochester & have wondered if an on-location session is an option where you live... yes it is!!)

First let's start with the baby. He was SO laid back and had the quietest cry I've ever heard! What a beautiful little guy!!

We try to get shots without pacifiers when possible... but the reality is that they're a big part of a newborn's life so we just roll with it!!

Check out the super cute hat mom had- I absolutely love babies in hats!!

Here is big brother who is about to turn 4. He kept me on my toes and working to get these shots, but they were totally worth it!!

This was the very last frame I shot from the session. I love it!

And of course we got a few of the boys together even though it was a challenge!!

Awww, they're holding hands!!

Thanks for letting me spend the afternoon with you guys, it was fun!!

Senior Portraits!! | Rochester, NY Modern Senior Portrait Photographer

Once school lets out later this month, the Senior Portrait mayhem will begin! A great advantage of working with a private photographer is that I can work around your kids crazy schedule for their session... but book early for best availability!

I have a few Senior Reps handing out postcards that will get you a BONUS GIFT with your paid session, so if you're in Greece Olympia or Brockport and you haven't receive one, start asking around!

The gift this year is something directly for YOU seniors (not for your parents!)... a TIM HORTON'S GIFT CARD! You'll get to pick an unmarked envelope and it'll be worth $5, $10 or even $25!! Don't forget to bring the postcard to your session or you'll have to buy your own iced cappuccinos this summer, lol

I've got new backdrop options, and some new ideas for outdoor locations this year too, so I'm anxious to try them out!

Don't forget- if you have your session this month, you'll receive a 10% DISCOUNT on your session package! A great option if the less-than-perfect economy is weighing you down!

I continue to have issues with my emails getting blocked by spam & junk mail filters, so when contacting me thru my website or by email, PLEASE INCLUDE A PHONE NUMBER! I get your emails, but I hear over & over again from clients that they don't receive my reply back!

Spread the word faithful blog readers... send any upcoming Seniors you know my way!

Family Portraits | Rochester, NY Modern Family Photographer

I had a super cute session today... you may remember one of my cake smash cuties from late last year, Baby A.

Well she was back today for portraits for the sole reason that she got this adorable little ballerina outfit and didn't know where else to wear it, haha.
I LOVE it!!

Is there anything cuter than a little girl in a tu-tu? How about a little girl hugging a piggy who's waring a matching tu-tu!!!

Eventually she was all done with the tu-tu. I love a good crying shot!

We made it a Combination Session and did some family portraits as well. What a beautiful little family!!

It was awesome to see you guys again! I hope you enjoy them so far!!
